Radiation Treatment
A number of methods are used to determine tumor shape and heterogeneity. This information can be used to help optimize a number of treatments, such as radiation therapy. This work employs a set of images of cervical cancer patients in various phases of radiation therapy created by dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging. The fractal dimension is assessed to determine shape, while a two-compartment pharmacokinetic model of tumor perfusion is assessed to find tumor heterogeneity.
