Dr. Hiroyuki Shimada of Los Angeles Children’s Hospital Visits BMI as Distinguished Lecturer

The OSU Department of Biomedical Informatics is hosting Hiroyuki Shimada, MD, PhD of Los Angeles Children’s Hospital, the University of Southern California as part of the Distinguished Lecture Series. Dr. Shimada is Professor of Pathology at Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. His presentation is titled “Pathology of Peripheral Neuroblastic Tumors” will take place in Hamilton Hall 137 on October 3rd between 11:30 and 12:30.
Dr. Shimada is the Pathologist-of-Record for the Children's Cancer Group (CCG) Neuroblastoma Studies. He is also a core member of International Neuroblastoma Pathology Committee and chairs workshops and other activities. In 1999 this Committee established the International Neuroblastoma Pathology Classification (the Shimada System) by adopting Dr. Shimada’s original classification published in 1984.
Dr. Shimada has been collaborating with researchers from our department to develop a computer-aided prognosis system for neuroblastoma, and he is the mentor of Dr. Metin Gurcan in his Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation Award.
The lecture will be on Friday, October 3, 200 from 11:30 to 12:30 PM in 137 Hamilton Hall.
