John Bolte of BMI Anatomy Helps Lead Research On Crash Testing Using CT Technology
Saturday 09/15/2007
The September 2007 issue of RSNA news features John Bolte, PhD, of BMI Anatomy in recognition of his work on a study involving the use of CT technology in vehicle crash testing. Researchers at OSU used human organs and tissue to find ways to noninvasively measure the impact of crashes on loss of life and quality of life. Simulated accidents allowed researchers the opportunity to use CT technology to visualize injuries. Findings from the project will be used to develop safer vehicles. OSU's Dr. John Bolte adds in the article that this type of testing has already been used in the development of seatbelts and airbags. He also hopes that the results of the project will help save lives on the road.
Dr. John Bolte is director of the Injury Biomechanics Research Laboratory at Ohio State. He is also an assistant professor in the division of Anatomy.
