Dr. Dan Janies Invited By U.S. Senator To Give Testimony At United States Senate Homeland Security Committee Hearing

Most of the recent pandemics have been zoonotic, meaning they involve diseases that are transmitted from animals to humans. The hearing assembled the human and animal health communities in order to encourage them to work more closely together to anticipate global disease pandemics.

On October 4th, 2007 Dr. Daniel Janies (center in the above photo) was invited by U.S. Senator Daniel Akaka (HI) to present testimony to the United States Senate Homeland Security Committee at a hearing entitled "Forestalling the Coming Pandemic: Infectious Disease Surveillance Overseas".

Dr. Janies presented testimony entitled "Geographic and genetic mapping of the emergence and spread of infectious disease, the Supermap project: supermap.osu.edu.
