Shannon received his M.S. in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his B.S. in Computer Science from the Ohio University. Most recently he worked as a Research Scientist at General Electric's Global Research Center in the Visualization and Computer Vision and Advanced Computing Technologies Laboratories where he researched areas of high performance and distributed computing as well as algorithm design for medical image segmentation and analysis.
